Overall, there is a strong movement away from hydraulic systems to more controllable, high powered, fault-tolerant, electromechanical systems for land vehicles. These new systems are trending toward higher voltages which provide increased power density and lighter transportation weights. Electromechanical systems also will give the vehicles more on-board detailed information and lend themselves to advanced prognostic health management and diagnostic capabilities through (IVHMS) Integrated Vehicle Health Management Systems.
